I love photographing kids! I just adore capturing the childhood stages because I know that they are fleeting. Mamas, one minute we are marveling over tiny fingers and toes and then the next minute your firstborn is taller than you are! That's a true story in my house. It just goes so fast! That's why it is important to get our kids in front of the camera. Photographs, I believe, are the number one thing we can prioritize to hold on to childhood and making time for them is something you'll never regret.
When prospective clients reach out to me about a session, their number one concern is often how their children will behave on a session. Let's face it, most kids don't like to dress up or hold still for photos.
But, take it from this Mama! I have seen just about everything! Don't worry. It never surprises me when kids show up to a session with a bit of reluctance. I can always spot worry in the faces of Mom and Dad when the kids initially decide that they really do not want to be on a photo session. That's when I step in and let the parent's off the hook of being the enforcer. I do not expect kids to be perfectly ready to be photographed as soon as I pull my camera out. Mom and Dad, I'm going to encourage you to relax and then, I am going to get to know your kids. I'm going to look for what makes your child unique by paying attention to their cues. I'm going to see those moments as part of the process and part of what I am going to capture, because it is real. And real is good.
I am going to encourage your kids move and play. That always helps them relax and trust me. I always have a bag of tricks to utilize, if I need them. I am going to get down on their level and make them laugh with my silly faces and jokes. I'm going to involve you, Mom and Dad! There will be tickles, hugs and kisses! What I purpose to capture is your connections rather than your forced smiles. Before you know it, your kids will realize that they are having a pretty good time. I still have kids who come up to me to let me know they remember our session. It makes me smile to know that our time is etched in their memory as a fun time!
We will get those shots that will lovingly live on your walls for years to come and you'll remember what it felt like when they were young, not just what that stage looked like. And when the time comes to pass the portraits on to your kids they will look upon those photographs at how you used to be. And that is pretty important, too.
So, let's get together and start planning those portraits for this year! There is no time like the present to capture your loved ones. Reach out to me in the comment section of the header or call me at 770-856-4322 to schedule your consultation.
